According to data from GACC, in the first eight months of 2023, China imported 624,000 tons of South American white shrimp (including black tiger shrimp) from Ecuador, India, Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Peru, Venezuela, Mexico and Nicaragua, which is close to the total import volume of 2021. An increase of 35.5% over the same period in 2022.

In the first half of this year, China's shrimp imports have reached 500,000 tons. If the second half can maintain the level of the same period last year, China's shrimp imports are expected to exceed 1 million tons for the first time in 2023.
